The American Dream… For What Americans?

The American Dream.

Only a few years ago my husband and I were at it. We built a beautiful dream home on land we liked, no kids but a house full of loved pets, and good jobs helping others.
But the American Dream has no room for the sick or their caregivers.
After all, sickness is for the weak and lazy. Sick people deserve to live in poverty when their bodies can’t keep pushing by holding down a job or their outrageous medical bills are higher than their income. Imagine facing those medical bills when you can’t even work to help put a dent in them.
And that pushes credit scores lower which inhibits any ability to climb financially.

So we’re folding. We’re packing up and selling. We’ve already sold all our valuables to make ends meet – now we’re selling our dream home and land.

America isn’t a land where hard work and goodness gets you moving forward. America is a land where the rich pat themselves on the back for a good job being rich and pass rules and regulations to help them and their circle get richer while keeping everyone else down.

*And I can’t imagine how much more difficult it would be as a minority beyond female, be it skin tone, sexual orientation, or more.
